The end of the year is always an opportunity to make plans, what could be better than planning an unforgettable trip to Cuba! One of the few remaining unique and original destinations a mix of colonial cities and wide and fantastic beaches. Plan your trip first and ask for our advice.

Here are some of the wonders not to be missed:

OLD HAVANA

Being both the center of the city and the municipality with the second highest population density in Havana, Havana Vieja is probably the most beautiful area of ​​the city and a must see if you are visiting. Many buildings have fallen into disrepair, but some are also starting to be restored. The area is a colorful maze of narrow streets, lively local neighborhoods, courtyards, forts, monuments and churches that make up the beating heart of Havana.

The Floridita bar – where Hemingway drank his daiquiris and La Bodeguita del Medio where he drank his mojitos!

Hotel Ambos Mundos – Hemingway's room has been preserved and you are welcome to pay a visit. This hotel also boasts a rooftop bar with a breathtaking view of the city!

Museo de la Revolución – The former presidential palace (before the Revolution), and now a museum dedicated to the Cuban Revolution.

Hotel Inglaterra – One of the oldest hotels in Havana and a great place to sit outside and listen to some live music while watching old havana go by.

The “Castillo del Morro”, is located on top of a rocky promontory at the entrance to the bay of Havana: you can't miss it! It's a huge fort with an equally impressive history. Its fantastic views make it a great first stop, a short taxi ride from the city centre.

THE MALECON – If you want an intimate glimpse into life in Havana, walk along El Malecon. Translated as “the pier” or the promenade, El Malecon is a restored waterfront boardwalk located along the northern coast of the city and offers beautiful views of Havana's iconic architecture and coastline. It is also the unofficial symbol of the city, often seen on postcards and films. El Malecon is a destination in and of itself, so food and music are plentiful all along the boardwalk. Sunset is a particularly good time to sit on the low wall with a cold beer.

VINALES VALLEY – After a few days in Havana, no one would blame you for wanting to escape the city for a day to find something else to do, and the city of Viñales should sort you out. It is a small village hidden in the midst of green fields, tobacco plantations and rock formations. About a 2-3 hour drive from Havana, Viñales is a great day trip, although I recommend spending at least one night there to get a full feel for the city.

AMAZING BEACHES – Cuba's proximity to the equator means that it's always beach season in Havana. The entire coast of the island is practically a dream of white sand and turquoise waters, so it's hard to go wrong choosing a beach. If you are looking to stay close to Havana, go to Santa María del Mar, the largest, busiest and best known beach in Havana. If you prefer to extend your vacation with a few days in a beautiful beach hotel, then we recommend one of our hotels in Varadero or in Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Guillermo or Cayo coco.
